Liz passed her CFI checkride today! After six months of working with her CFI, Dan Jacobson, Liz decided she had heard enough from Dan and insisted upon taking her checkride. Sherry Diamond was assigned by the San Jose FSDO to give the checkride. It went fantastically! CFII next Liz! Congratulations!
David Horne was just hired as a First Officer at Piedmont Airlines. Congratulations Dave! That is fantastic. David is currently working as an intern at Delta Airlines, where he played a pivotal role in the now publicly announced merger between Delta Airlines and Northwest Airlines. CEO Richard Anderson was recently quoted as saying "Without Dave's invaluable knowledge and assistance, this merger would have been DOA. We can now move forward to take our rightful place as the largest airline in the free world (by passenger volume). We are sorry to lose Dave to the commuters, but a man has got to do what he's got to do."
Evan Karlik passed his Private Pilot Checkride today, March 17. Splendid work Evan! Here is a great picture of Evan with his CFI, Paul Kutler. Ironically, Evan pointed out that he passed his Private Pilot Checkride on St. Patty's Day! Good on ya lad! Keep up the good work.
David Lee completed his Private Pilot Checkride today. Congratulations Dave! David was instructed by a combination tag team of CFIs. He started with CFI JR Warmkessel and finished with CFI David Risher. No rest for the weary, David L. is starting his Instrument training immediately! Well done David!
Steve Heyman passed his Instrument Rating Checkride today! Ironically, today, Valentines Day 2008, is one of the most gorgeous Chamber of Commerce days that I can remember. Well done Steve! Libor Kovarcik is Steve's CFII. Job well done gentlemen!
Tom Boyer passed his Private Pilot Checkride today. He was flying N4138J, our Cherokee 140. Bill Hightower was Tom's flight instructor and as you see here, Sherry Diamond was the Designated Examiner. Everyone is smiling, so it must have gone really well! Congratulations Tom!
Grant Daiss passed his Instrument Rating checkride today. Well done Grant! Libor Kovarcik is his CFII. Keep up the good work!

Uri Tzarnotsky performed his First Solo today, December 1, 2007. He was flying N6253G. Congratulations Uri! Great work.
Peter Kuykendall passed his Instrument Rating Checkride in November. That is a great accomplishment! Peter's instructor, Libor Kovarcik, is very pleased with Peter's accomplishment.
Peter made the following statement. "I'm really excited to have achieved my Instrument rating. My flying skills have definitely benefited from the training. I feel I am a better and safer pilot and I look forward to enjoying some of the advantages of having an instrument rating. Thanks Libor and thanks Shoreline Flying Club for helping make it possible."
Hamid Moshtaghi completed his instrument rating last month. What a fantastic accomplishment Hamid! Libor Kovarcik is his Flight Instructor and is very pleased.

Keith Stason was offered a position with Express Jet Airlines as a First Officer on the Embraer-145 737-Killer!
We couldn't be happier for Keith! It has been his long time ambition to become a Part 121 pilot and he has succeeded!

Justin passed his Private Pilot Checkride on July 6th!
Justin stated, "Sophia is a great instructor. She is always relaxed int he cockpit, explains topics thoroughly and is quite adept at knowing when I was ready to move on to more difficult maneuvers. I would whole-heartedly recommend her to anyone thinking of getting their pilots license.

Libor and Sophia gave birth to a beautiful happy and healthy baby boy today! His name is Dylan! CONGRATULATIONS!
Charlie earned his Seaplane rating at the end of June! How cool! He trained at "Alaska Float Ratings" which is located about 100 miles south of Anchorage. He had a great opportunity to do some real bush and mountain flying!
Charlie was wondering when we are getting a float plane in the club. Well Charlie, when are we getting a float plane?

Fred was offered a position with Skywest Airlines as a First Officer on the Embraer 120 Brasilia! He just successfully completed his IOE (Initial Operating Experience) and is now a fully qualified First Officer.
We couldn't be happier for Fred! It has been his long time ambition to become an airline pilot and he has succeeded!

Wayne completed his Private Pilot Checkride today! Excellent work Wayne! What a nice gift for your CFI, Steve Philipson's birthday!
Andres completed his Private Pilot Checkride at the end of June. Congratulations, Andres! Great work!

Fraser accomplished his first solo on Febrary 7. His flight instructor Sophia Ng was very pleased with his performance.
Fraser commented, "I thought I might be nervous when Sophia got out of the plane at the instructor's bench, but to my surprise I found myself calmly talking to the tower, and following my checklists routinely. I was as excited and stoked as ever setting up for the landings (I love landings). Thanks to Sophia for helping me to reach this milestone!"

The FAA has a program to recognize instructors who have a high pass rate and a high level of activity. An instructor who has at least 8 out of 10 students pass their flight tests on their first attempts, with at least 10 flight tests within 24 months is awarded a Gold Seal permanently attached to his or her flight instructor certificate. Less than 3% of instructors have a Gold Seal certificate. Steve Philipson reached this goal in December and was awarded the instructor Gold Seal Certificate in January.
Congratulations Steve! We are honored to have a CFI with this prestigious accomplishment on his resume! Keep up the GREAT work.

Announcing a new category for Congratulatory Accomplishments. This "knot???" was found attached to one of our airplanes on January 19.

Steve Heyman performed his first solo on the morning of January 19, 2007! Uwe Lemke, his flight instructor was mighty pleased with Steve's performance!
Excellent work Steve! Ten days from start to solo! Not bad! You should have your ATP by March at this rate! Congratulations!

Justin Hensley performed his first solo on the afternoon of January 7, 2007! His CFI, Sophia Ng, observed his stellar performance from the bench alongside runway 31 at Palo Alto Airport.
Justin commented, "I was nervous before taking-off for the first time on my solo, but after leaving the runway, Sophia's training kicked in and everything was fine. Actually, I was a little sad when I had to stop after only three landings."
Great work Justin! We look forward to great accomplishments from you in the near future!
Dave Lipps performed his first solo on the morning of January 5, 2007! His CFI, Dave Horne commented that Dave did an extraordinary job considering that the winds started picking up during his solo work! Way to go Dave! Keep up the great work.
Paul Park passed his Private Pilot Checkride today! His Flight Instructor was Sophia Ng.
Paul commented, "I am very thankful for Sophia, Gordon, and Shoreline for making this happen."
Sophia said, " was blessed to have Paul as my student. Paul, you've done a great job!!!!!

Ramon Rick passed his Instrument Checkride today. Looks like he did it just in time!

Mike Fiore completed his First Solo today! When asked
about his accomplishment, he stated, "Sophia is an excellent Flight Instructor!
God knows that she was so patient with me!!!!"
Sophia responded, "You've made your instructor proud."
Congratulations Mike! Keep up the good work!
Jose Valencia successfully accomplished his first solo today!
He was quoted afterwards to say, "I got really sweaty! I was very nervous..."
Not to be outdone on quotes, his CFI, Libor stated, "After a little bit of
bouncing on the first one, airline captain-like greasers followed!"

It is with bitersweet joy that we proudly announce that
our CFI extraordinaire, Keith Stason, was plucked up by
box delivery service Ameriflight. He will be flying the Piper
Cheiftain for them. He may still honor us with his presence
on weekends, when he's not flying heavy iron.
CONGRATULATIONS KEITH!! You make us proud.

Ryan just passed his Private Pilot Checkride today. His CFI, Dave Horne, commented,
"I was really impressed with his performance. I want to thank everyone that helped him get
to his goal after I left to return to UND." Well done Ryan!
Eric passed his private pilot checkride on Friday, August 25! His Flight Instructor
was Pearse Connolly. Eric's selfless comment at the time of this great accomlishment was
the following, "Shoreline has been great for organization for me in the past 2 months offering great prices for planes. Thank you!

Boaz passed his private pilot checkride today with examiner Mike Shiflett.
When asked about his accomplishment, Boaz had this to say....

Katie overcame the lack of her training airplane and passed her Commercial Pilot Checkride

did a fantastic job. Her CFI, Dan Jacobson, couldn't agree more! For those of you who are wondering
where the Cardinal RG is, click here and here to see the incredible job Liz did in bringing in the
stricken aircraft. I know who I want to fly with in the event of an emergency! Great job Liz!
Eric braved the unbelieveable heat today and accomplished his First Solo!

Anil skilfully passed his Certified Flight Instructor checkride on June 30. Just in time too, as he started his medical residency the next day!
We are hoping that he will be providing flight instruction at Shoreline Flying Club very soon.

Sophia passed her Instrument Flight Instructor rating checkride on June 28. She is quickly adding to her credentials as a professional aviator.
We are proud to have her working with us at Shoreline Flying Club.
Her Instructor Libor Kovarcik is even more proud.

Ryan resumed training that he bagan in Canada but didn't finish prior to arriving in Mountain View to work for Google!
